Duct Tape and Duck Tape both work exceptionally well for all manner of projects. If you were a fan of the Red Green you may remember that the 3M Company was an official sponsor of the Red Green Show.
Duct tape originally came in two colours: silver or black. Duck Tape (a brand name) comes in all kinds of colours and patterns including camo. This immediately provokes one to ask the question, “Being the hunter that he is, why isn’t Phil Robertson’s Bible held together with camouflage tape rather than reflective silver duct tape which would immediately be spotted by any game that might come wandering by?”
I have seen many Bibles held together or reinforced with duct tape, including my father-in-law’s. My observation in all instances is the truth of Charles Spurgeon’s famed quote, “A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.”
Along with the Holy Spirit, the Bible is God’s primary method of communication with His children. Everything we need to know to live a godly life can be found in the Bible. The Bible is the ‘duct tape of life’.
To my shame, my Bible doesn’t yet need to be bound with tape. Yes, it’s worn, but not nearly as worn as it should be.
Each time I open my Bible God invariably offers up a gem to encourage me. A few days ago I found this nugget of truth that blew me away and which I’m still trying to digest, “…he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.” Colossians 1 NLT
God, I think you may be mistaken. It is me you’re talking about isn’t it?
